Sandy began her role as President of the Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce in September 2017. Barton brought extensive chamber and business leadership experience to the role, most recently as Vice President for Membership & Marketing of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce for the prior 11 years. In her role in Houston, Ms. Barton spent extensive time working for the community, building numerous membership and retention programs, and supporting economic development programs in the Northwest Harris County community. Prior to her Chamber work, Ms. Barton held executive management positions with American General and Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, and at Northwestern Mutual’s home office in Milwaukee, WI. She holds her undergraduate degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI, her IOM from the prestigious U.S. Chamber Institute for Organization Management, and her Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED) degree from the Community Development Institute (CDI). Sandy is a 2010 graduate of Leadership North Houston, and a 2019 graduate of Leadership Montgomery County.
In addition to her Chamber role, Sandy serves on the North Houston Association (NHA) Board of Directors, the Lone Star College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Advisory Board and the North Houston Regional Center for Economic Development (NHRCED) Advisory Board. Prior community roles include serving on the Leadership North Houston and Leadership North Houston Alumni Board of Directors, The Woodlands AIDS Walk, MS 150, the Woodlands Dog Park, NML/AMA Program Chair, NML/Alverno Alumnae Gathering Fundraising Committee Chair, Rochester Public Library fundraising committee, American Diabetes Association – Walktoberfest board member (Milwaukee), Executive Director/Founder Foxfire Volleyball Club (USAVB), President/Founder – Waterford HS Choir Booster Club, Waterford HS Booster Club board member, TWHS Wrestling Booster Club board.
