HOUSTON—The Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce announces Sandra “Sandy” Barton as the new president. Ms. Barton will assume responsibility for Chamber operations, business recruitment and retention, community marketing and strategic planning beginning September 5.
“We are tremendously excited to welcome Sandy to our community,” says Kendrick Skipper, Chair of the Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber Board of Directors. “She is ramping up very quickly and we have every confidence in her ability to prepare this Chamber for the tremendous growth we see in our near future.”
Barton has extensive chamber and business leadership experience, most recently as Vice President for Membership & Marketing of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce for the past 11 years. In her role in Houston, Ms. Barton spent extensive time working for the community, building numerous membership and retention programs, and supporting economic development programs in the Northwest Harris County community. Prior to her Chamber work, Ms. Barton held executive management positions with American General and Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, and at Northwestern Mutual’s home office in Milwaukee, WI. She holds her undergraduate degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI, her IOM from the prestigious U.S. Chamber Institute for Organization Management, and her Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED) degree from the Community Development Institute (CDI).
“I’m so excited to work with business, city, county and regional leaders to position our business community to take full advantage of the explosion of growth and mobility headed our way,” states Barton. “I look forward to meeting everyone, and learning how the Chamber can support business and the community in its quest to deliver the support services we all need to build successful businesses and community in our region.”
