Dona and her husband moved to the Magnolia area 20 years ago following her retirement from Vinson & Elkins, LLP. She and a partner had opened a gift shop, BD’s Touch, in Magnolia several months before. One of the first things they did was join the Magnolia Area Chamber of Commerce to become active participants in the business community. Dona was elected to the Chamber’s Board of Directors and served one term as Chairman of the Board.
Several years after Dona and her partner closed their store, Dona was asked to come work as a part-time employee at the Chamber. It wasn’t long before part-time became full-time and ultimately led to Dona’s becoming the Executive Director. Dona retired from the Chamber and tried retirement life for a few years.
When the Covid-19 Pandemic impacted the Magnolia area, Dona started volunteering at the Chamber to help during a staff cutback and has, once again, been hired as a part-time employee. She has been heard to say she has gone “full-circle” in “Chamber” life and loves the work, loves what the Chamber does for the business community, but most of all, loves the great membership – its is the Best in Texas!
